World Rowing Indoor Championships-Volunteers Needed

Did you know that LBRA is hosting the World Rowing Indoor Championship on February 24, 2019? This means that we have hundreds of athletes coming to the Long Beach Pyramid from across the U.S. and around the World to compete! Rob Glidden and Ellen Kirk, supplemented by about a dozen club members with essential backgrounds and professional skills, have been working with FISA, US Rowing and Concept 2 to help put this amazing event together. Now, it is time for the entire club to help get us across the finish line.

We need our member’s help to support this event by volunteering for available time slots prior to the event, during the event and/or after the event. Everyone is encouraged to compete and considerations will be made to help volunteers race as well as volunteer for the events. There are several volunteers who have already signed up for more than one time slot but we still have 100’s (yes 100’s) of hours that need to be covered to make this a successful event.

Please sign up for at least one time slot listed on SIGN UP GENIUS set up by Sarah.

IMPORTANT: We need two more LBRA members to take the TEAM LEAD roles on key projects leading up to WRIC’s. These two positions require time now and leading up to the event as well as on the day of the event. Team Leads will coordinate with Rob Glidden to help manage volunteers.

  • Manage and coordinate the sale of merchandise and the volunteers signed up to sell merchandise.
  • Manage and coordinate the concierge/usher volunteers.

These two positions are very important and need to be organized and implemented as soon as possible. If interested please contact Sarah Mackenzie ASAP at (562) 270-5769 to discuss being one of the Team Leads.

Want to race? Consider a 500 m or 1000 m team race as well as a 2k race! Go to Regatta Central and sign up for a race. If you are looking to buy an erg, you can purchase at the same link under “Merchandise – Erg Sales”.
